This article examines the social significance of the development of
environmental education in the system of human-nature relations. It also analyzes the priority tasks of forming environmentally conscious activities based on improving environmental education. Along with modern innovative approaches to solving environmental problems, the importance of an ecological approach based on the traditions of local people's use of nature is scientifically substantiated.
