Abstract

This article explores the manifestation of national mentality through
the paremiological systems of the English and Uzbek languages. Proverbs, as
concentrated capsules of folk wisdom, reflect the ethical norms, historical experiences, and socio-cultural values of a nation. Through a comparative-typological analysis, the study identifies how geographical environment, religious beliefs, and social structures shape the metaphorical layers of proverbs. The research highlights that while English proverbs often prioritize individualism, pragmatism, and legal justice, Uzbek proverbs emphasize collectivism, hospitality, and filial piety. The findings contribute to the fields
of cognitive linguistics, ethnolinguistics, and intercultural communication.
