Abstract

This article examines the linguistic and extra-linguistic challenges
associated with the translation of international relations (IR) terminology from English into Uzbek. As international diplomacy and global governance continue to evolve, the demand for precise translation of diplomatic documents, treaties, and political discourse has grown. The study identifies key issues such as lexical gaps, lack of equivalence, the polysemous nature of English diplomatic terms, and the socio-cultural nuances that influence the Uzbek translation process. Through a qualitative analysis of specific IR
terms, the paper proposes strategies for achieving functional equivalence.
