This article examines the influence of social media on the academic writing
skills of university students. In recent years, digital communication platforms have become an essential part of students’ daily lives. Social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Telegram, and TikTok allow users to exchange information quickly and express ideas in written form. However, the widespread use of these platforms may influence students’ formal writing habits. The research analyzes both positive and negative effects of social media on academic writing. The findings indicate that while social media can enhance creativity and communication skills, excessive use may lead to informal writing habits, simplified vocabulary, and reduced grammatical
accuracy.
