Abstract

Design Thinking in English Lesson: It contends that DT marks a transformation from traditional, teacher-led classroom instruction to a more interactive, learner-centered method of pedagogy. This method encourages a meaningful 21st-century skill set, one that engages them in real-world socially significant problems while supporting language
acquisition through creativity, teamwork and critical thinking. During the Design Thinking cycle—Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test—students use English as a real communicative tool making it more than just an exercise in isolation. The students explore real world health problems, generate ideas, and design and test tangible solutions collaboratively. This process encourages authentic language use, lowers language anxiety and increases levels of engagement and cognitive involvement in
learners. Concluding by stating how Design Thinking reshapes the English classroom to become a space of activity-driven learning in which language becomes experienced through purposeful enactment. Instead, communication becomes a tool for asking questions, thinking creatively and solving problems—rather than a system of grammar rules to be memorized.
