Abstract

This article broadly covers the issue of transforming local Councils of
People’s Deputies into the main link in solving existing regional problems. The role, functions, and powers of these councils within the system of local state authority are analyzed. The importance of deputies’ activities is demonstrated through examples of major regional issues such as drinking water supply, electricity, road infrastructure, employment, education, and healthcare deficiencies. In addition, the necessity of strengthening council
activities through regular communication between deputies and voters, public oversight, control over the local budget, and the effective use of information technologies is substantiated.
