Abstract

This thesis analyzes the artistic portrayal of orphaned and vulnerable children in the literary works of Pearl S. Buck. The writer realistically depicted the lives of poor and helpless children and reflected social problems such as poverty, war, inequality, and lack of parental care through their experiences. The paper explores Buck’s humanistic ideas, her psychological approach to child characters, and the educational value of her works. Special attention is paid to the novel The Good Earth, where children’s lives are represented in difficult social and economic conditions.
