Abstract

The sustainable management of transboundary water resources has
become one of the most important environmental and socio-economic challenges in Central Asia. Southern Uzbekistan largely depends on the water resources of the Amu Darya River basin, whose formation occurs outside the national territory. This study examines the geoecological aspects of transboundary water resource utilization in Southern Uzbekistan and evaluates the major environmental challenges associated with
water scarcity, salinization, desertification, and ecosystem degradation.
