This article examines the linguopragmatic representation of a local
bird-catching scene in the Baburnama and its rendering in the English translations by
Annette S. Beveridge and Leyden-Erskine. The study focuses on Babur’s description of
seasonal bird movement, spatial organization, technical procedure, and local practical
knowledge. The analysis shows that the passage is not a simple hunting narrative, but a
culturally marked account of environmental observation and collective action. The
English translations generally preserve the main content, yet differ in conveying cultural
terms, procedural details, and pragmatic nuances.
