Abstract

The article analyses how leaders’ behaviour and the standards they set shape team performance and morale. Gossip and tale-bearing are treated as factors that erode a team from within. Drawing on social learning, organisational culture, psychological safety and goal-setting theories, the paper compares two management models (one tolerant of gossip, one oriented towards results), formulates four theoretical propositions and substantiates three practical principles built on the rule “bring me the results of your own work, not another person’s faults”. The study is theoretical and presents no new empirical data
