ЭВФЕМИЯ И ДИСФЕМИЯ НАЦИОНАЛЬНО-КУЛЬТУРНЫХПОСТУЛАТОВ ПРИ ПЕРЕВОДЕ РАССКАЗОВ Л.Н. ТОЛСТОГО«ДЕТСТВО. ЮНОСТЬ» НА АНГЛИЙСКИЙ ЯЗЫК

Abstract

The paper addresses issues of spiritual and moral development—encoding of
personal characteristics of an author of a literary work—with regard to the
communicative intention using L.N. Tolstoy’s story “Childhood.” The personality of
the author, his ideological national and cultural postulates are shown to be encoded
compositionally and lexically in his works. One of the brightest examples of describing
cultural and historical Russian traditions of confession is the story “Childhood. Youth.”
When translating the stories into English, there are cases of a shift of the original
meaning of words towards neutralization or accentuation
