The rapid development of digital technologies and learner-centered methodologies has significantly transformed modern education. In English Language Teaching (ELT), innovative approaches are increasingly being adopted to enhance students’ motivation, engagement, and communicative competence. One of the most promising and widely discussed approaches in recent years is gamification. Gamification refers to the use of game design elements—such as points, badges, leaderboards, levels, rewards, storytelling, missions, and challenges—in non-game
educational contexts to stimulate learner motivation and improve learning outcomes. This thesis aims to explore the pedagogical foundations of gamification in ELT, analyze its benefits, and identify potential challenges associated with its implementation in different educational contexts. The study is based on theoretical analysis of contemporary research in language pedagogy, psychology, and digital learning, as well as practical observations from classroom practice
