The global energy landscape is undergoing a transformative shift from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources. While fossil fuels have historically driven industrial development and economic growth, they are major contributors to environmental degradation and climate change. Renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, hydro, and geothermal offer cleaner alternatives that can reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainable development. This article examines the economic andenvironmental effects of renewable energy compared to fossil fuels. Using a qualitative review of academic studies, industry reports, and case studies, the analysis highlights the benefits, costs, and challenges of both energy sources. Findings indicate that while renewable energy requires initial investment, it provides
long-term economic benefits, job creation, and environmental sustainability, whereas fossil fuels continue to pose environmental and health risks
