The rise of online learning has reshaped the landscape of higher education, providing students with flexible, accessible, and technology-driven learning opportunities. This paper investigates the influence of online education on student performance, considering both its advantages and challenges. Using evidence from recent studies and surveys, it analyzes how online learning environments affect student engagement, academic achievement, and skill development. The study identifies benefits such as self-paced learning, diverse multimedia resources, and global classroom access, while also addressing drawbacks including reduced face-to-face interaction, potential distractions, and the digital divide. The paper explores the role of learningmanagement systems, virtual classrooms, and interactive tools in facilitating effective online education, and examines how individual factors such as self-discipline, time management, and technological proficiency contribute to performance outcomes. suggest that while online learning can match or even surpass traditional classroom performance when well-designed, its effectiveness largely depends on course quality, instructor engagement, and student motivation. The paper concludes with recommendations for optimizing online education through blended learning models, improved instructional design, and targeted student support services.
